At Blueprint Lab, we’re aiming to revolutionise the subsea inspection and intervention landscape, previously reserved for work-class vehicles.
We’ve been busy integrating the Reach Bravo – the most dexterous and tough range of portable subsea robotic manipulators – onto the SAAB Seaeye Falcon. Integration of our manipulators on the leading and industry-standard underwater vehicles is a crucial validation procedure for subsea operations.
The SAAB Seaeye Falcon is one of the most common and reliable inspection class ROVs for hostile underwater environments and they are often deployed in the offshore energy, marine science and defense industries. Their widespread use has lead to the development and refinement of numerous accessory and tooling options for multiple applications, making them one of the most versatile vehicles for remote operations.
Reach Bravo manipulators are lightweight, smart and tough – designed for inspection, maintenance and repair tasks normally undertaken by human divers. Their interchangeable end-effector options allow on-the-go customisation of a manipulator to match task requirements. This unparalleled versatility paired with its’ 300MSW depth rating, extreme accuracy (<1cm), and intuitive master arm (‘imitative’) controller makes it the ultimate manipulator for subsea vehicles such as the Seaeye Falcon.
The combination of Reach Bravo and Seaeye Falcon unlocks previously impossible or difficult remote subsea operations for inspection-class vehicles including:
- Complex Recovery – Slings/strop/shackle/hook placement
- Inspection of Marine Infrastructure using NDT probes (ACFM, UT, CP etc)
- Complex tool placement and manipulation
- Other complex intervention and inspection work
We’re not so naïve to think that the Reach Bravo will solve the full gamut of problems that operators face underwater. We do, however, aim to drastically improve capability, improve diver safety, and save massive amounts of time for operators operating in complex and harsh environments.
